A Day at the Park

Well, it was really more like an hour at the park. But the kids loved it. Slides, swings, rope climbing, it was a great afternoon.

St. Patrick's Day

How fun children make holidays. I remember wearing green in college and drinking too much green beer, but I tell you, decorating for this holiday with Declan was much more fun. We put up shamrocks with our names on them, put up window decals, bought a cute figurine for our new entertainment center.

Declan got a new shirt for today and Abigail wore her shamrock PJs to bed last night. Declan helped find all the green in our house and was very excited about having green milk!

Bedtime Shenanigans

This is what awaited me when I went upstairs to go to bed last night. Apparently, after over an hour or crying and fighting bed time, Declan's last attempt to escape his room was just too much. He fell asleep in the doorway.

Tackle List - Halfway Assembled

I've been doing a bible study with some new friends here at Ft. Meade. We are doing Donna Partow's Becoming the Woman God Wants You to Be and this week focused on management skills. Managing our lives, our time, our kids, our husbands; basically prioritizing and getting down to business.

One of the challenges this week was to compose (and start on) our Tackle List. This is comprised of everything we want to get done in our house, room by room. This is such an easy list for me to write, as most of the incomplete stuff is from our move, ie. blank walls and boxes. But, as I got down to the nitty gritty, I realized there is a lot to do. A list as complex and intricate as this usually overwhelms me. I see that there are just too many things to get done that I give up on it all.

However, I am invigorated and ready to tackle one task at a time. If I can get one extra thing done each day I have succeeded! Of course, some of these things will get done on the weekends with my handy man, and some things are as simple as recycling an empty box, but slowly and surely this list will get done.

Did I mention this two page list was only for the downstairs and excludes the garage? Well, one step at a time and I will get this house exactly where I want it. (Probably right about the time we are slated to leave, but isn't that the challenging part?)

Walking to Afghanistan

No, I didn't forget the ocean in the way, this a program an online friend is doing. She has to walk/run/exercise her way 7,612 miles to Afghanistan from March 7, 2011 to March 7, 2012. So, who did she turn to for support, 19 of her closest friends, and fellow military wives. I'm proud to be one of them! We are working on closing that distance from Ft. Knox, Kentucky to Kabul, Afghanistan!

Each mile is recorded, or 30 minutes of workout time.
So far, I've got 3 miles.

I'll update each week to let you know how I'm doing, and how the team is doing!

7,609 to go!

Abigail's New Trick

Life keeps getting in the way...

Of my blogging! I need to be better at this, I know!

In the course of the last few weeks we have finished unpacking! (Except for those blasted foot lockers.) A few changes to the furniture arrangements and we still need to decorate, but we are working on it. Here are the highlights:

After a few very sleepless nights, Declan and Abigail let it be known that they need to share a room. So, we now have a play room/guest room upstairs.

The dining room is back to being functional, and I plan to at least finish taping off the wall we are painting this week. I'd really like to start painting, but that may be next week's goal.

We have decorated for St. Patrick's Day with some window clings and Declan and I will be hanging Shamrocks as we get closer.

Preparations have started for Abigail's first birthday parties. Can you believe its almost been a year? Abi is having her friends over on her actual birthday and we are having family up on the 2nd. I can't wait to see her eat her chocolate cake!
